Curatorial concept (EN)

Curated as a 4 chapters story, the exhibition will follow the different becomings of art works, tracing parallels and intersections between the ever-degrading materiality of physical works and their immutable digital counterparts.

Join us in wondering, pondering and imagining answers and novel inquiries from the beginning!
Each chapter will reveal various artist interventions on each of the works, both the material and the digital ones.

Chapter 4: Final proof

Leilei Gallery presented, throughout July& August, a multilayered exhibition, the first NFT group show in Romania, organized in 4 chapters in which time, both an empowering and a weakeningforce, is the arch-concept to interrogate the becomings of art works: in theirmateriality and digitality.

For each chapter, artists were invited tointervene in a technique of their choice upon the works, to explore thepotential performative evolution of the pieces. To befriend our public with theNFT paradigm and to inspire them to start collecting digital art, 10 of theinvited artists offered free NFTs at the openings and enjoyed observing theguests interacting with the wallets and showing each other what they hadcollected.

It is now time for our closing chapter, envisioned as a wrap up & closing of the circle.
It is time to deconstruct everything and let the works live on in their digitalecosystems, be it Hic & Nunc, Foundation, Rarity or whatever platform ourartists & collectors prefer.
It is time to set everything i̶n̶ ̶s̶t̶o̶ne̶ in print so that the physical works live on in their authentic, more traditional, media: paper.
It is time to ponder again on the durability of said environments and to notice both the fragility and strength of cellulose and bits & bytes.

Chapter 3: Forge those sidechains

The 3️rd chapter of the first NFT group showis right here, bringing you a wider choice of free collectible NFTs. So, just in case you missed out on the first 2 chapters or you’d have collected some more, now’s the time.

Physically challenged or even obscured in chapter 2, the works will pass now to a different state, as an interplay between digitality and materiality. Flashy, intricate, opaque or transparent, these composite works will function as palimpsests of their own becomings through either pixel perfect videography or, the opposite, digital discomforting noise.

Has this aged well? Or is there some more to be gained?
Join us and observe how solid works disappear behind curtains, unravel, dissolve, get add-ons or are intentionally impoverished.

Chapter 2: The stakes are high with this one

Join us for the 2nd chapter of the first NFTgroup exhibition in Romania

- discover the performative becomings of theworks displayed
- scan the QR codes and gaze at the newdigital works
- have your Tezos-based wallets ready tocollect new NFT releases (available only at the opening)

As any hero goes through a coming of age, aconstant evolution, so do works of art. At least sometimes. For the secondchapter, artists intervene on their initial works, taking them to a different –but neither better nor worse – state.

The process is reflective of the evolution ofthe NFTs ecosystem: as both artists and buyers engage on the platform, mintingand buying, the value of the NFT becomes more prone to change. In other words, artworks are also works of time (either as outcomes of the longue durée oraffected by the passing of time) and so are NFTs, with their potentiallyever-changing value.

Don’t miss out on the 2nd chapter – 22nd ofJuly - to add another item in your fresh NFT collection!
